Is there a plan for Bards to get into the "Meta" game?

Hi all,

My main character is a treasure hunting bard, and I noticed that he can't get a Meta Talisman. I also noticed that tamers can't either, but tamers can flesh out their character with a Meta-pet. So, that essentially leaves bards as the only group that can't expand their character through the Meta end game content. Are there any plans on implementing a bard based Meta system? Meta instrument or something? Note, I'm not talking about bards being able to get one of the other talismans, I'm talking about something to play off the bard skills. An idea, might be having a meta instrument you must hold to get the bonuses, to alleviate possible OP combinations with barding. Or, having to have multiple barding skills to get the bonuses. Something to get bards into the meta end game content would be appreciated.

If some kind of bard based meta system is going to be implemented then I would like to see new harder mobs introduced into the game. ones that meta bards can only provoke, whether its with a bard talisman and/or special instruments. if that works out ok, then open lost lands and add champ spawns and make them spawn the new harder mobs. basically, without meta bards those lost land champ spawns are undoable by only meta tamers/dexxers/mages.

and if opening lost lands isn't feasible, then randomly add the mobs into regular champ spawn areas. just an idea to get more bards out there to pvm more and new end game stuff :)

You forgot Meta Thief.

I think that a Meta bard may be difficult to do unless the character had to use all (or most) of the bard skills. The main reason why bards have been ignored is because Music+Provo is used on top of other templates to pimp them out.

But it's not all negative here. Since you play a bard treasure hunter, I think you will enjoy the upcoming enhancements to treasure hunting (release date not set yet).

I want to conduct symphonies that spawn pairs of paragons. That sounds fair.

I've only been working on my meta dexer and meta mage. I would die if that crap became available for bards....I'm pretty stoked being able to provoke 99% of the mobs in the game and solo level 5 maps, personally.

This would definitely for the first and probably the final time in my virtual UO life, that I would farm. Farm I tell ya.. FARRMMM....

Seriously, I really do like the idea of improving thieves so they can be more useful than their traditional role. I have three chars myself in the thieves guild, so I have a iron in that fire too.

I think Kingdoms should make some thieves pretty happy.

Discordance at max lvl would STEAL that % from mobs and give it to the player, or Peace could let out a slow heal and lesser poison cure

For a Bard talisman you could make it so discord would be the Extra "skill" need for a special ability like armslore for dexxer and spirit for mage, as far as relics go you can use the gold one from meta pets, making the lower end mob turn paragon.

you could make another relic that gives a third provoke to Slayer instraments (will only work on that slayer type) so you are limited as to which monsters you can provoke) this will also create a real maket for slayers on bard instead of just gm.

Similar to quick silver but for both mobs, basically both mobs hit extremely fast for 10 seconds cutting down the time you have to wait for kills.

Every paragon you kill has a small chance to explode causing damage to all mobs close by. (works well with first relic)

A provoked mob will go crazy and attack any monster nearby without being provoked, after his first target is killed. can only last a for 20 seconds. occurs on time of provoking so it will have to kill it's target quickly.

I think for any of these to apply you cannot have taming (of course) but you also can't have a fighting skill, this will make a pure bard template vialble in pvm provo archer are strong enough

My idea of making the meta bard require an instrument in their hands(if that is even possible with the code) would take care of a lot of overpowered possibilities like bard archer.

I understand what you're saying, and in the game it makes sense, but bards were also known for singing as a performance instead of just instruments. When I see a bard pluck a bow string, or swing an axe I think of warrior poets, or Skalds; singing tales of epics in the heat of battle to inspire allies, or enchant foes. Instruments are used because "singing" isn't an option in Sosaria.

Should just make it so you have to have all the (music, provo, peace, discord) to get the music talisman... then let you do some wild shit with it.

I agree with Gluttony that it requires a minimal in barding skills to make this work, otherwise you end up with overpowered templates.

The debuff relic can be freely implemented without having to affect PVP
  • Discordance:
    • Normally: Lowers % of stats (and skills?)
    • Debuff relic: Lowers % of armor (more melee damage)for [3*level] seconds after using skill on it
  • Peace:
    • Normally: Stops attacking (change on breaking upon damage)
    • Debuff relic: Lowers % of resistance (more magic damage) for [3*level] seconds after using skill on it
  • Provocation:
    • Normally: Attacks a target creature
    • Debuff relic: Takes slayer damage from target creature type (more pet damage)for [3*level] seconds after using skill on it

I think you only need 2 bard skills + music, and exclude tamers from using it. since most talismans only require 3-4 skills so you have something to play with

of make it if you have all 3 skills + music, you have a 0% chance of missing or failing on ur skill
