in game message, whispers?

I cant figure out, if its possible to whipser to somone ingame.. Can i whisper a friend, even though we are not at the same location? And yes, im new to the game .. or more like an old timer comming back.

You can use guildchat.. there is a possible whispering, but literally whispering, when you stand next to someone and press tildy ( ; ) before you start a sentence :)
