Tbh I thought my egg looked very silver and not very purple but without RunUO or hopping on the test server (if it's even up) had no way to know for sure. And that thread I linked was about as clear as mud lol.

They look pretty similar in egg form and certain stages of development

I have a couple prospective buyers for the egg. Guildmate has the egg trying to track down a buyer he met offering 1.2 who does not have forums or IRC. In the meantime someone offered BO but I can't get my hands on the egg. He may be buying another in the meantime.
