From a random sample of trees, about how much, on average, of a legendary lumberjacks harvest would be unordinary (i.e., yew, oak... frostwood) logs?

At 120 LJ, without snakes counting towards the haul:
90 - 120 minutes
(all number are approximate based on personal observations)

How do snakes relate to the haul? I'm only at 90, and most of that was from sparring, so I don't know much about it.

Every tree has a chance of spawning a snake that will drop (usually) colored wood, gold (90-120ish), spined leather, and bones. I have had back to back snakes a few times with up to 6 in a secession. I thought the GMs were screwing with me at one point with how many I kept pulling up (I should probably smoke less).
My personal snake observations:
@100 LJ they only ever dropped the top 3 tiers of wood, Heart, Blood, Frost.
@120 LJ they drop all types of wood, from (the worst) 1 normal log to (the best) 10 frostwood logs.
I ran my 100 LJ for 3, 3 hours secessions and ended up with well over 100k normal logs and several hundred of Heart, Blood, and Frost - No other colors
I ran my 120 LJ for an hour last night and the second snake dropped me 1 normal log

After I read your post, I killed the two snakes I pulled up (before, I had just left them and moved to a new spot). Got heartwood from one and frostwood from the other. That's consistent with what you were saying.

im not an lj nor do I care about colored wood but this is never the answer, never ever.

If before you pass 100 LJ and pull something less than heart, blood, or frost off a snake, please let me know. Thinking at 100.1 the wood types go out the window and it becomes random to what you have skill to pull from trees. An extra set of eyes would be helpful, I'd hate to be passing on misinformation.

I was in the midst of doing some research of my own on my 115 LJ to see if the still relatively high cost of a 120 PS made sense. (I am sure LJ +20 will continue to come down, as has +20 BS and +15 Tailoring. I paid 1.0 Million for +20 BS and 850k for the +15 Tailor many, many moons ago, and now I am seeing them pretty darn cheap...)
With 115 LJ, I did 10 full runs on a 100 STR character, i.e. 394 stone:
24,450 ordinary (77.11%)
4,730 oak (14.92%)
1,520 ash (4.79%)
720 yew (2.27%)
220 heartwood (0.69%)
70 bloodwood (0.22%)
0 frostwood
31,710 total logs in about 200 minutes over 5 days. (I don't know how anyone chops wood for hours on end, I would shoot myself. I can only tolerate this and mining for short bursts.)
Obviously, you can't harvest frostwood with 115 LJ. You can still get the good stuff from serpents. I am apparently cursed as I only saw 12 serpents in my 10 runs and netted an additional 24 heartwood, 7 bloodwood, and 21 frostwood. I did not see anything other than heartwood or above on the serpents, although I have seen damn ordinary logs on them in the past. It does seem pretty fickle, as on one run, I saw 3 serpents in 20 minutes and on 4 runs, saw none at all.
It seems those last few points really do shift the harvesting from mostly ordinary to mostly something else, but on the high end wood, it seems kind of shitty. Even if you can sell the frost for 250 per, you are looking at a good 12 hours of chopping to return your initial investment if you pay about 600k for +20 LJ. (600k / 250 per log = 2400 logs. 200 logs per 2 hours of harvesting equals 12 hours of chopping...) 50k per hour is not bad, but in my opinion, there are definitely more exciting ways to make the same income in the same amount of time.

Hell yeah they are too hard. I wandered across one and mistook it for the ones I was used to. Ran off and stood next to an ankh after the first poison tick and prayed I wouldn't die. 2hp left and the bandage took.
The ones that come up now will still sometimes cause me to jump a little when first dislodged.

Would probably make me take up archery on my Lumberjack. Of course, wouldn't help since even the regular serpents seem to hit with poison immediately after dislodging them 90% of the time.
They do occasionally make me jump, as do elementals that spawn while I mine. I usually turn the sound down on my headset while I resource gather so I don't get freaked out too bad.

My lj is pure crafter, the first time I saw the snake it whooped my ass. And a few times since. I have to keep a char nearbye to kill if lol
