How does a moving crate work?

I am about to make a major overhaul on my entire 18x18, hundreds of items locked down/secured. Will this all go into the moving crate for my new design? How long will it stay there, forever? I want to make sure I have plenty of time to unload everything before it starts disappearing.

Just do your redesign. Any item that gets re-deeded or moved due to a wall will pop into moving crate.

You access moving crate from 'customize this house' menu.

Items stay in crate until you take them out.

Keep in mind you may want to move items beforehand it you are going to be say, putting a roof on top floor where you have things locked down on the top floor.

Yes everything locked down/secured will stay in place unless it has a collision issue. Be aware though that this means items placed on tables and then bumped down with the deco tool will cause the table to be redeeded and placed into the moving crate.

I had a big banquet table in my house made up of multiple stone tables with tons of items on them and when I redesigned I was... a little peeved. lol. Had to bump everything up, place the tables, and bump back down into place

edit: I'm talking about stone tables here in case that wasn't obvious =P
