High Stakes Poker

Been watching these poker tables the past few days and I cannot believe how much actually goes through this table per minute(1m maxbuy-in) players are winning hands worth 1.5m in minutes (WTF) if there is that much gold around to be used it should be implemented back in the market or used in a gold sink style (cant sell a damn thing besides taming shit) not spread amongst the richest poker players and groups that join to cheat the tables. The average player lets say makes around 100k gp (no items) an hour which is why the donation coins sell in game for around 180-200k normally but now in the current period they are down to 170(even less) which means there is even less available gold on the server(hoarded/SavingForRelics,Eggs,TameSS) but yet these guys can win millions an minute playing poker while the rest of the shard stands still and farms 100k an hour so in the few minutes it takes 3 guildies in Skype to join a table on un-affiliated char/accounts no guilds party chat etc. to make a few million and buy the dry market price donation coin items/coins at very little effort (VERY TRUE) compared to what seems realistic and holds the market fairly stable while operating smoothly on a very obvious supply demand ratio. I wanna be clear and say im very aware that the poker tables are a new fun way to make gold and am not suggesting getting rid of them i just don't wana quit another server because it turned to a bunch bs, gold is important in every aspect of uo not just trade... if no one is farming who are the reds going to kill and if there is nobody for the reds to kill then the high end armor and weps pvpers use are going to drop in price then the mules crafting runic made items wont be able to sell them and it literally goes on and on and on.

Hey dude, poker tables have a rake (shard removes gold on every hand) that sinks gold from the server and there is no gold created from poker so nothing you said here applies even a little.

Maybe in the very short run this will hold true. In the long run, this will stop being a novelty and only those that really want to play poker will play. The people winning millions are also the people losing millions. With the high end poker table, it is just a constant exchange of money between the richest players that enjoy playing poker.

Honestly pretty hard to say much more after Adam said how he feels, I respect that. I was posting out of concern hoping that if this wasn't taken into consideration it may lead to future problems, I love this server and I recently stopped playing atlantic with billions and billions saved in gold and items to play my char that has nothing and I have never thought of playing it again almost disgusted about the fact I paid for it. So this server to me is about much more then amassing stockpiles of millions been there done that. Its about well balanced resource management pvp vs the face slaming your keyboard with 2/6 casting and spending billions for 20+ splintering weps and 210+stam suits, And the fact that killing monsters for 20 mins can actually progress you not just farming keys for peerless bosses hoping to pull a drop and sell it for millions (but you don't and end up wasting all that time) <and this really is the only way either that or farm up the new loot system items which are all cursed and garbage> makes this server byfar the best experience ive ever had and i just didn't want anything to happen to it.

Truth to Adams statement. I haven't played the high stakes (not enough to buy in) but I played on the lower end. Lost my ass, won it back, and hopefully will turn my 100k into more...if I do then I will be seen on the buying forum...if I don't then I will be seen on the selling forum. I believe this will cause new money to buy and lost money to sell. Should create movement in the market short term.

Not really sure I understood the post, but the gold that's won in the poker tables comes from the players, it's not generated by the shard and distributed. Players join the tables with a buy-in and use that gold to gamble. Same goes for everyone else at the table. If anything the tables offer a gold sink with the rake taking a solid chunk of all of the gold. All that the tables do is move around existing money that is already present in the economy, while deducting a good amount as well offering a pretty significant gold sink.

Means you did just get here.
We've been the largest private free-playing server going on almost 2 years straight now, and in that time economy was a concern, however we feel we have fixed that already as we have dropped over-all gold quiet substantially.

The more you stick around the more you will understand that we would never implement things that would be catastrophic to the server. The Poker has brought back many veteran players, and it's a simple trade of gold, while also being a pretty decent gold sink on top of that.
