Remove trash barrel: Equip an axe. Double click the axe, and then click on trash barrel.
turn/flip items: use the house customization tool. purchasable by any NPC carpenter I believe.
turn/flip wall & corners: there's actually no option to do this. There's a pre-build lower-right corner. however to build a corner for the other 3 angles of your house. Simply place a north/south facing wall alongside a east/west wall. If done correctly, there will be a small gap between the two pieces of wall, which can then be filled by the skinny column shaped wall graphic (which is usually far right in the customization tool).
(picture above: the far right piece is what fills that small gap when you put two adjacent walls together)
