Fatal Error message. what gives?

hey All!!
I just built a new system, and im getting a strange fatal error message and crash when I go into options to turn the sound off.
the second I hit apply..... i get the fatal error message: could not create directory (then it shows the long directory)

any idea on how to fix this??? I dont have any problem on my older system....

ok haha I figured it out.
Bit Defender had blocked it all.
