Factions question

sorry i know there are loads of posts asking about factions, but every post i look at it turns into a flame war which is good cause it shows people are actually interested in the faction system and have rivalrys, but i cant decipher any useful info from it

few questions:
Is a faction, effectively a single guild, or is it a group of guilds?
how many players take part in factions for each faction? (i know thats very hard to tell but rough estimate would be appreciated)
are they all RP and PvP based? or does it differ from faction to faction?
can you have different character in different factions? or is this frowned upon/banned?

this is so i can pick one i can work towards joining all i know so far is i dont want to go SL and im not a mage so cant join CoM

That gives you basic info on factions. It's basically a separate war system. It's pretty much all PvP based, very little RP though it is possible to run into some people that might RP their faction status.

As far as different characters in different factions, I would call it bad but I don't think there's any official rule on it.

ty that answers lots of questions? do you know how active each faction is? are they very popular, unpopular, are any basically dead etc.
