I collect the nets then go on my hunting character and use them but don't get any MiB's. Does that mean I have to use my fishing character even to kill the spawns?
Do I have to use a GM fisherman to get rares with nets?

The nets will pull up monsters but they will not always have loot. I don't think you need a fisherman to make them more effective. Normal fishing is the best way to get mibs and ancient mibs. Ancient mibs will give you a white net, that pulls up a leviathan. This monster can drop rares. Also you might pull up a monster called oseiradon. Or something along those lines while doing mibs. He can also drop rares. Most of the rares on the water are pulled up when doing whirlpools. But 120 fishing is ideal for doing those
