Not my weekend!!

Finally managed to get back on to refresh my houses - I've had to take a break of late - and both of them decayed.

Couple that with having my house broken into on the weekend - while the kids and I were here - and loosing all my laptops and my phones, it's been a shitty week. I refreshed my houses two weeks ago I'm sure - how long does it take for one to decay completely?

Damn you DDOS!!!

lol. Agree. Forgive the rant. I know I can get back out there - but three levels of storage filled with shinies and muchos gold - gone! Argh!

You probably refreshed your houses right before the last DDoS attack (maybe 1-2 weeks ago), which resulted in a minor revert (maybe an hour or so?). But you must have been incredibly unfortunate to login during that hour to refresh your homes. Sorry 'bout the bad news. Hope you can get back up soon.

someone broke into your house while you and your kids were there???? You shot them in the face right?

It was pretty crazy. We live in a reasonably well to do part of Wellington, NZ. Crime is virtually nothing. Even the police were amazed. Unfortunately the law here hasn't caught up with technology - so we've found the house where my $8k worth of it is at with find my phone (the home screen on my phone was busted so it looked like it was off) - this isn't enough for police to issue a bloody warrant.

Must admit the biggest headfck was that someone was in my house while my kids were here and my Dad powers didn't kick in in time to melt their faces.

Are you even allowed guns in NZ? What do you defend your house with, the finest Hanzo steel? Or maybe some sheep?

We heard something on the deck (bedrooms are downstairs, living area and decks are upstairs) but figured it was just a cat or a possum (we've had plenty of those over the years and it was the same very quiet very quick footsteps). Should have got up and checked it out which is part of why I"m so grumpy about the whole thing.

@Karl - yep, you can get gun licenses easily enough but it's really only for rifles for hunting. Police here don't even carry pistols - in fact I don't think I've ever seen an actual handgun on these shores. Certainly if you kept a handgun in your house for self defense you certainly wouldn't be able to draw it, even on an attacker unless you felt your life was actually in danger. Your neighbors would also think you're odd. The last record I could find on our murder rate was for 2009 where we had 42 murders (out of 4.4 million people) but its been dropping steadily. Spontaneous crime like picking up a phone from a cafe table happens just like anywhere else in the world, but planned things like the hit on our house just doesn't happen (although the two empty spaces where my gaming laptops used to sit seem to imply otherwise).
