Custom House Bar Tops

Howdy All! Long time listener, first time caller.

So I've been building a rustic pirate salon themed house and put in a bar top. Now, I can't seem to able to place anything on top of the bar. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to be allowed to place objects on top of a bar, although I could be wrong. Is it because the bar is attached to the side of my stairs? Would that have any effect? Can't think of any other reason.

Thank you in advance.

Bar tops like that are always troublesome to place on, it might be possible with enough fiddling around but really, it should not be that much trouble to place on! You can try locking items down in the same place where the bar will be created, raising them up so they would clear the top of the bar area then customizing the house. You can then build the bar where the items are and commit the design. With the items in place, you can lower them down and arrange them accordingly. With a bit of luck, it will work :p.

If you are not getting the desired effect, then create your own bar style using items in the game. With a little creativity you can create something which I think is much more appealing than the default bars using the customization option for housing.

Thanks for the reply. I was keeping my fingers crossed that the solution didn't involve any 10k house modifications(that might not even work) but it looks like either way, I'm going to have to modify the design.

I'll try a few things then build a bar with my carpenter, if I have to.

You can use barrels for a really effective Bar area, you can also swap out standard tables for barrels to give a really rustic feel to your designs. the only issue is the lack of space as you can see below to place items.
