Couple of newbie taming questions...

Very casual player here so it may take forever to Max the skill but in the mean time:

What would be the best pet for a player with zero taming skills? (This for alts or if I decide it's to time consuming to level)

I was thinking swamp dragon for obvious bonus for my main but does it help at all to dismount and have it attack in a pinch?

Leveling pets. I know metas have actual levels but you can increase normal pets stats or abilities training them some too correct? If so when you transfer them does this reset or will the new owners/alts have to do it over again.

Pet ball. I know how this works (in theory anyway) but can you re link the ball to a different pet down the road or do you need another new ball? Also what happens with the ball if your bonded pet goes wild? Again very casual player/character here so it maybe days before I log back in to rez.

Thanks in advance.

Swampie will give you the AR bonus vs mobs for sure. The other pet to consider is a blue beetle - you get extra storage plus if you train it, it can do some damage due to its high dex/hit rate. Either will die to any moderate or hard mobs.

Normal pets have skills to raise but no levels. for most pets it will be 4-6 skills - the type of pet determines what skills it has. These skills do not change upon transfer or even release.

Petballs can be re-linked, but you have to do so in advance of losing a pet. If you pet goes wild while it is alive, you can no longer ball it because it is no longer a pet - you would need to retame it. If your pet is a ghost and goes wild, it is gone forever. Always rez and stable your pets.
