you lack the proper art files to see it, i think.
what version of client are you running?
when you first load the client, the version info is on the bottom of the castle screen.

do you use any treehack mods or the like?
if so try replacing your art files with the originals if you kept them.
also, if that doesn't help, you could install the client off the UOF site, it may be a more recent version than the classic client.
