Before giving up my "young" status besides not being able to be pk'd are there any other benefits?

Other than the wisp I don't see anything special about being young. At one time I thought as a young player monsters didn't attack you unless you attacked them, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Young Status:
You can't be PK'd easily
You will not lose loot upon dying
You will be labeled a noob
You can enter the new player dungeon

keeping all your loot when you die is one of the better perks

Thanks.
What's the ring and candle do?

The ring is blessed and stays with you as long as it's in your back-pack (never put a blassed item in a bag inside your backpack, you'll loose the bag and thus all items within). You can wear it to if you like, but there's no benefit/penalty for doing do. As long as you have the ring you can, while dead, say the phrase, 'I seek forgiveness' once per 24 hours to be taken a (the nearest?) town healer; useful if you're killed and your ghost is trapped on an isle or something like that.

The candle does nothing; maybe it makes a cool blue-glow if you have 'dark nights' and 'colored lighting' activated in your options? Most of the community turns off lighting, but I find it adds atmosphere (and gives a spell and a potion a reason for existing).

There is one major benefit to young status characters not directly addressed even though it's common knowledge a lot of players do it:

While you are young and can't be looted, so if you have the right build, you can farm end-game content without the worry of being looted. The death itself isn't even a worry since the wisp can rez you on demand.

Let people call you noob; you'll be to busy hearing the clinking of gold coins to care.
