You can't. These will skin animals that give leather and also cut the leather at the same time. makes it easier to loot off corpses since the cut leather strips are so much lighter.

There is a blessed red dagger that murderers can buy from the gold sink or dono vendor just so they can cut heads. Once you go red your newbie dagger and candle become unblessed. One of the special items vendors have both in a blessed form I believe so reds can pay to have those two items back.
That is why I assumed that the OP mentioned that the flayer knife wasn't blessed so that there wasn't any confusion with the special vendor item that is also red.
