A few noob questions...

Heya,

1) I've been playing with my character for about 2-3wks and some of his skills seem to be stuck...

Animal Taming 60.2
Vet 63

Animal taming hasn't gone up for AGES, whereas my animal lore is 85.7...
Vet seems stuck, I got two bears to fight each other whilst I healed them and after about 15-60mins vet went up maybe 0.2%! Should they be poisoned instead? i could use 2 snakes...

I don't know if this is a problem with with my stats? I'm 100 strength, 75 dex, 50 int (or something like that)...Does int need to be higher for taming and vet?

2) Is it just me or is Healing a bit useless? I don't ever heal if I'm poisoned, my fingers ALWAYS slip. Is healing just cheaper then potions? Cos ATM I'm kinda regretting having healing; I should just take potions.

3) I changed from being a swordfighting tamer to a tamer archer... My parrying has gone down and my archery up, but my swordfighting hasn't gone down AT ALL it's still at 100... :/ Will it go down after reaching 100?

6) How do I res a dead pet? I tried taking my pet Binky (rideable wolf) to Britannia Vet (not easy as some bastard PKers killed me north of Minoc and Minoc has no vets and Binky was moving in slow motion) but the vet didn't say anything, no offer to res, NOTHING!

7) What's the point in hiding? I got one of my characters upto like 80 or something, and she still couldn't hide when a zombie was after her! It's so useless; if I can run, I don't need to hide!

Eating effects gains here. You should probably make sure that your character is well fed and satiated.

Healing is far from useless. If you're poisoned bandages will cure you instead of healing you. You fingers slip every time you take damage and the more you fingers slip the less you will heal and the chances of failing go up.
Potions heal nowhere as much damage as bandages do, and they have a fairly large cooldown. You should have Healing or Magery (or both) for healing purposes but still carry some potions for extra survivability.

Your Swordsmanship will start decreasing after Parrying is at 0 skill. Make sure the arrow next to the skill is pointing down in case you forgot to set it pointing down.

4) WTF are bods?

Bulk Order Deeds. You can get them from tailors and blacksmiths, fill them with required items and turn 'em in for rewards.

5) How can i bless items?

Clothing (not armour) can be blessed using Cloth Blessing Deeds. Weapons can be faction blessed if you're in a faction or with an item bless deed, which are pretty much unobtainable at the moment and there has been only 3 of those during the shard's life.

Only players with high enough Veterinary can ress bonded pets.

You need to break line of sight or get far enough from your chaser if you want to hide. You can't expect to be able to hide right next to something that is trying to spill your guts, no?

I still think you should be able to hide right next to your chaser when you get 100 I was behind a bush! It might not be very realistic, but then I do tame grizzly bears by saying "I've been searching for a companion like you..." lol

Yea you should just stuff your char up on bread n' stuff, and there's no need to sleep in UO.

Trust me, Hiding would be utterly OP and broken if you'd be able to hide as you please when engaged in combat.

You can hide from an attacker on the same screen by tabbing in and out of war mode. Hit the tab key twice and then try to hide. At 80 hiding, you will still fail sometimes, but at GM, you should be able hide on the same screen. Also make sure you tab out of war mode. If you don't, you will take a swing at your attacker if they are in range and reveal yourself.

At GM hiding, u can hide 8 tides away from mobs even if they r angry at you. Hiding is extremely useful in dungeons esp with 80+ stealth. U can pretty much just hide and stealth in any dungeon without being attacked by mobs or PKs. U can check out dungeons quietly. However, occasionally you will still get attacked by mobs who can reveal or PKs who can do tracking.

The only way to check if u r hungry is by eating. Read the system messages when u eat. It will tell u how hungry u r or not at all. FYI u don't need to sleep.

I bought 50 vet from npc and then have my bonded pet killed. I just kept rez it from 50 to GM within a day. U still gain skill even u fail to rez.

BOD - google it. It's too complicated to explain in a paragraph here.
