    Diversifying Mage PvP

I've said this numerous times: I don't feel like you balance the "nobody would die" issue by just giving players extra damage with little to no drawback. It was possibly an attempt at correcting that issue, sure, but there are other ways to correct that issue that should be explored. If...

A Possible Solution to The Problem of PvP

I don't even... If they didn't want gold, they would remove gold. They want gold: gold is the driving currency on UOF. They just need gold to have value, and the value is established by the value of items that can be purchased with it. Interesting conversation though.

A Possible Solution to The Problem of PvP

What? No. It's not to remove gold from the game. It's to get gold to circulate. Come on man... you aren't being serious, right? That second part isn't true. They don't necessarily hate dying in UO, but they see no purpose or value in getting ganked by groups as solo/casual players. Huge...

    Diversifying Mage PvP

... did you post a video of group vs group field PvP to argue that there's mage diversity in mage 1v1? What?

    Diversifying Mage PvP

Oh. So if someone offers to duel you mage vs mage, and brings pets on a tamer mage, you're good with it? Seems contradictory to all of your conversations with Bobby. Then again, I guess that means you've been dodging mage vs mage duels. Your call, your logic. And this game should be...

    Diversifying Mage PvP

Do you want me to capitalize and bold the word MAGE each time I refer to expl/stun being the meta mage 1v1 build? Can we stop pretending that that isn't the basis for this entire conversation? I'll clear it up: it is. It has been established, by yourself and many others, that expl/stun is the...

A Possible Solution to The Problem of PvP

Uh, the purpose of gold sinks isn't to remove gold from the game. That's nonsensical. It's to increase/maintain the value of gold by offering desired items to spend it on. Giving out gold (to a FEW players ONCE a week) would lead to players spending that gold on items that other players have...

    Diversifying Mage PvP

Sure. The same thing that would be wrong with giving everyone a tamed dragon with 0 Taming/Lore: it conflicts with what PvP should be to many, doesn't function as it did in the past, and has led to a clear-cut meta mage 1v1 build. Now, some would just say "adapt, run around with your free...

A Possible Solution to The Problem of PvP

Good, then change it to gold. It just so happens that the big rewards on UOF are PvM related (outside of gold), so they're the items that actually provide incentive. If you'd rather it be gold, then fine, but growing this shard is worth giving items out in a weighted lottery.

    Diversifying Mage PvP

Many aren't satisfied with how pots currently function. Where we are now isn't final. (Unless they are. I'd love confirmation.) I agree. Thank goodness we wouldn't be doing that.

A Possible Solution to The Problem of PvP

I'm confused. You are a PvMer who invests time in PvM, but would be fucking pissed if someone like you, who invests time into PvM, received a relic? It sounds like those that invest time into this game should receive rewards accordingly. A weighted lottery removes the exploit concern and...

    Diversifying Mage PvP

Stop pretending that the way it is now is permanent. The UOF staff is constantly exploring better ways to do things. Second paragraph: so, other mages other than alchy/stun will be used? Perfect. Sounds like mage build diversity, as well as legitimate options for all players and playstyles.

A Possible Solution to The Problem of PvP

@Swayze @eppy Is the weighted lottery idea (the weight being based off of damage done), as @AreYouKidden has laid out, something we can have further discussion on? It seems apparent that it'll bring a lot more activity to structured PvP.

Can we remove flagging in town entirely? Having guards called for murdering or stealing isn't fair.

    Diversifying Mage PvP

... then they shouldn't do those things? Either don't throw them with risk, or don't throw them near town? It sounds like exactly the way it should be.

    They don't?

    Diversifying Mage PvP

Potions should splash, hitting everyone around them. That way, all sides get what they want: players who want mage diversity have towns, while those that want alchy/stun have everywhere else. Just the way K A Z wants it.

    Diversifying Mage PvP

Uh, what weird guard wack stuff? You mean hitting innocent players or things with explosion potions? That's not weird... it prevented expl potions from being thrown in town. If players made the choice to throw in town, they ran a clear and obvious risk. And that's how it should be. I agree...

A Possible Solution to The Problem of PvP

That system, adding a few lower-tier rewards at random, plus expl potions splashing, and PvP would increase significantly here. I'd have no other PvP related complaints.
