Just don't become a script thief. They are lame as hell. Use the old school tactics to find and steal stuff. Script thieves are bitches and are seen as such even by their fellow thieves. @Darkarna can vouch for this.
Yes food does affect gains in general so if you are starving it will cripple your gains and I believe the well is East of West Brit Bank. Rumor is it gives a skill gains boost for an hour but I have no idea if it is legit or not.
Since you guys love to stealth around you could have roaming orcs with gear or gold in their inventory that if tracked and killed you get a bad ass weapon or armor. If you guys don't see too many trackers you could just pop out and scream Booga Booga and hide again to get people to swarm the area.

Thanks for all the input. I'm a parry dexxer with this guy but I am thinking of switching back to swords. I'll give a bit of a run till I GM and see how mace works for me but swords might be were I go with this.
